Anam Cara Therapy LLC

Therapy grounded in connection, authenticity, and compassionate care.

Therapy is a place to feel seen, supported, and understood. Together, we'll create a space where healing, growth, and authentic living become possible

You Don’t Have to Do it Alone

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply ready for something to change. Whatever brings you here, you do not have to face it alone.

Bridget’s approach is warm, relational, and client-centered. She works collaboratively with clients to explore challenges, strengthen insight, and support meaningful, sustainable change. Bridget is intentional about considering the broader context of each person’s life—including relationships, identity, spirituality, and lived experience—recognizing that healing does not happen in isolation.

Bridget works with individuals and families navigating:

🌿 Depression and mood concerns

🌿 Life transitions and identity exploration

🌿 Relationship and family challenges

🌿 Identity & personal growth

🌿 Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected

Meet Bridget

Seeking therapy can feel like a big step, and Bridget McGovern believes the process begins with feeling seen, supported, and understood. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience in behavioral health and social services, Bridget offers a warm, thoughtful, and collaborative approach to care.

A Southwest Philadelphia native, Bridget has worked in a wide range of settings, including community mental health centers, crisis centers, emergency departments, schools, pediatric primary care, and most recently in a management role at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Her experience working with individuals and families across many stages of life gives her a deep appreciation for the complexity of each person’s story.

Bridget’s therapeutic style is humanistic, client-centered, and grounded in genuine connection. She thoughtfully integrates relational and behavioral strategies, while recognizing the important role that family dynamics, identity, spirituality, and life experiences play in emotional well-being. Her work draws from mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, attachment-based therapy, and eco-systemic structural therapy.

Bridget is passionate about helping people recognize their strengths, live more authentically, strengthen relationships, and find meaning and balance in their lives.

On a personal note, Bridget enjoys spending time with her wife and son, days at the Jersey shore, exploring the Philadelphia culinary scene, and the Phillies on the radio.

Why Anam Cara?

In Irish Gaelic, Anam Cara means “soul friend” — a trusted companion who bears witness to another person’s life with care, presence, and understanding.

At Anam Cara Therapy, this idea reflects the heart of our work. Therapy is a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself in the presence of someone who listens with compassion and curiosity. We believe healing and growth emerge through authentic connection and a relationship grounded in trust.

Whether navigating life transitions, emotional struggles, relationship challenges, or questions of identity and meaning, therapy can offer a place to feel supported as you move toward greater clarity, resilience, and wholeness.
